Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in Massachusetts are small, self-contained living spaces that can be built on the same lot as a primary residence. Recent laws have made it easier for homeowners to create ADUs, allowing them to be built "by right" in most residential areas, subject to local regulations.
